How this calculator works

For rise and run, the angle is arctangent of rise divided by run. Percentage slope is rise divided by run times 100. The pitch multiplier is the square root of one plus the squared rise-to-run ratio. Degree and height/half-span inputs are converted to the same ratio, so every method produces comparable output.
